Música Pobre
BoCA, a non-profit organization established in 2015 and based in Lisbon, is at the forefront of contemporary creation. Guided by a transdisciplinary approach that embraces hybridity and the breaking of boundaries, BoCA's mission revolves around fostering a diverse cultural ecosystem. This ecosystem thrives on the synergies between cities, including Lisbon and other Portuguese and foreign cities, as well as cultural spaces such as theatres, museums, and cultural centres, along with natural spaces. It encompasses a wide range of artistic fields, including performing arts, visual arts, music, and cinema, engaging with their respective audiences.
One remarkable project that exemplifies BoCA's commitment to innovation and collaboration is "Poor Music." Over a span of six months, students from three esteemed music universities in Portugal participated in a transformative training and creation endeavour under the same name. This project, directed by a team of visionaries including Filipa Francisco (choreographer), Pedro Tudela (visual and sound artist), Paulo Raposo and Filipe Reis (anthropologists), José Luís Bento Coelho (acoustic engineer), and Vera Mantero (choreographer), culminated in a series of three awe-inspiring performances.
Through initiatives like "Poor Music" and many others, BoCA continuously pushes the boundaries of contemporary art. By redefining conventions, embracing interdisciplinary approaches, and inspiring a new generation of artists, BoCA sparks a profound transformation in the artistic landscape, encouraging boundless creativity and limitless possibilities.
